Have your students create a collaborative poster and learn about William Faulkner in a new and engaging way! Students will research Faulkner’s life and literary contributions to create an author biography poster that highlights his achievements and influence as one of America’s most celebrated writers. Along the way, they’ll also develop valuable skills in collaboration and effective communication.
This project works perfectly with units on As I Lay Dying or The Sound and the Fury, allowing students to connect the author’s background to his most notable works.
Working in groups, students will research William Faulkner, organize their findings on the poster, and bring their creation to life with color or paint. Once the six pages are completed and taped together, the final product measures approximately 28" x 15" and can be printed on regular copy paper or card stock. For a lasting classroom display, laminate the finished poster.
This resource includes student directions (PDF and editable Word document), a rubric (PDF and editable Word document), a graphic organizer (PDF and editable Word document), six printable poster pages, a William Faulkner answer key, and an example of the completed project.
