Description

Have your students create a collaborative poster and learn about Shirley Jackson in a new and engaging way! This creative project invites students to explore the life, works, and literary legacy of one of America’s most masterful writers through a hands-on, collaborative activity. Students will research Shirley Jackson’s biography, major works, and influence on modern literature while developing key teamwork and communication skills.

Working together, students will research Shirley Jackson, record their findings in the designated sections of the poster, and color each piece to bring the project to life. Once the six pages are taped together, the completed display forms a cohesive and visually striking poster. The final product measures approximately 28" x 15", can be printed on regular copy paper or cardstock, and will last for years if laminated.

This resource includes step-by-step student directions, a project rubric, a graphic organizer, six blank coloring pages that combine into one complete poster, a Shirley Jackson answer key, and a fully completed example showing both text and color.

This collaborative author study makes an excellent addition to any short story or American literature unit, especially when paired with The Lottery or The Haunting of Hill House.
