Description
Have your students create a collaborative poster and learn about Roald Dahl in a new and engaging way! Through this activity, students will research and design an author biography poster, exploring Dahl’s life, literary achievements, and his lasting legacy as one of the most beloved storytellers of the twentieth century. Along the way, they’ll also strengthen their teamwork and communication skills as they collaborate to complete the project.
This project is a wonderful addition to any unit featuring Roald Dahl’s works, such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or James and the Giant Peach. It helps students make meaningful connections between Dahl’s life experiences and the imaginative worlds he created for young readers.
Students will begin by researching Roald Dahl and gathering information about his background, accomplishments, and contributions to literature. They’ll then record their findings in the designated sections on the poster before working together to color or paint and assemble the final display. Once completed, the six-piece poster can be printed on regular paper or cardstock and will measure approximately 28" x 15" when taped together. For long-lasting classroom use, you can laminate the finished product.
This resource includes step-by-step student directions, an author study project rubric, and a graphic organizer (all provided in both PDF and editable Word document formats). It also includes six blank coloring pages that come together to form one cohesive poster, a Roald Dahl answer key, and an example of the final project.
