Description

Have your students create a collaborative poster and learn about Mark Twain in a fun and engaging way! This activity guides students through the process of researching Samuel Langhorne Clemens—better known as Mark Twain—and exploring his life and literary achievements. Students will create an author biography poster that highlights Twain’s background, major works, and contributions to literature while also building skills in collaboration and communication.

To complete the project, students will work in small groups to research Mark Twain, transfer their findings into designated sections on the poster, and then color or paint the individual pieces. Once finished, they’ll tape the six pages together to form one cohesive poster. The final display measures 28" x 15", can be printed on regular copy paper or cardstock, and will last for years if laminated.

This resource includes step-by-step student directions, an author study project rubric, a graphic organizer, six blank coloring pages that form one detailed poster, a Mark Twain author study answer key, and a fully completed example showing both text and color.

This collaborative poster makes a wonderful addition to any novel study for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer or Adventures of Huckleberry Finn!
