Have your students create a collaborative poster and learn about Ernest Hemingway in a new and engaging way! Students will research Hemingway’s life and works to create an author biography, showcasing his literary achievements and personal background in a visually creative format. Through this process, they will also develop valuable skills in collaboration and effective communication.
Working in groups, students will research Ernest Hemingway, organize their findings on the poster, and bring it to life with color or paint. Once all six pages are completed and taped together, the final display measures approximately 28" x 15" and can be printed on regular copy paper or card stock. For a lasting classroom display, laminate the finished product.
This project pairs perfectly with lesson plans for A Farewell to Arms, The Old Man and the Sea, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Hills Like White Elephants, and The Sun Also Rises.
This resource includes student directions (PDF and editable Word document), a rubric (PDF and editable Word document), a graphic organizer (PDF and editable Word document), six printable poster pages, an Ernest Hemingway answer key, and an example of the completed project.
