Description

Have your students create a collaborative poster and learn about Alice Walker in a new and engaging way! This creative project invites students to explore the life, works, and legacy of one of the most celebrated voices in American literature through a hands-on, collaborative activity. Students will research Alice Walker’s biography, major works, and cultural impact while developing essential teamwork and communication skills.

Working together, students will research Alice Walker, record their findings in the designated sections of the poster, and color each piece to bring the project to life. Once the six pages are taped together, the completed display forms a cohesive and visually striking poster. The final product measures approximately 28" × 15", can be printed on regular copy paper or cardstock, and will last for years if laminated.

This resource includes step-by-step student directions, a project rubric, a graphic organizer, six blank coloring pages that combine into one complete poster, an Alice Walker answer key, and a fully completed example showing both text and color.

This collaborative author study makes a great supplementary activity for any novel study of The Color Purple or American literature unit focusing on women’s voices and social change.
