Description
This Character Collabs project is the perfect addition to your unit on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
In this activity, students analyze nine major characters from the novella: Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, Fred, Jacob Marley, Mr. Fezziwig, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Through close reading and textual evidence, students examine each character’s traits, motivations, relationships, and role in Dickens’s message about redemption and compassion.
Students present their analysis on a collaborative poster, making literary analysis both creative and memorable. This hands-on approach increases comprehension and retention while encouraging meaningful discussion and teamwork.
This resource provides a highly engaging learning experience that helps students strengthen collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills while interacting with one of the most beloved holiday classics in literature.
This resource includes a teacher guide, student directions, a holistic rubric, a brainstorm character analysis worksheet, blank coloring pages for each character, answer keys, digitally colored examples for every character, and editable documents (directions, rubric, and brainstorm worksheet).
To construct each poster, students work in groups to analyze their assigned character, transfer their findings to the poster sections, collaboratively color the pieces, and assemble the final product. Each poster is made up of six pieces of paper that can be printed on regular copy paper or cardstock. Once assembled, each completed poster measures 28" x 15".
Perfect for December lessons, holiday units, or a classic literature study, this Character Collabs project brings A Christmas Carol to life in an engaging, student-centered way.
